Privacy Policy
What we collect, why, and how it's handled.
Last updated: September 4, 2026
1. Information We Collect
Account information
When you register, we collect your name, email address, and a hashed password. If you fill in an organiser profile, we also store the bio, links, and display name you choose to add.
Event & CFP content
This includes events you list, CFPs you open, talk proposals submitted by speakers, reviewer scores and comments, and ticket/pricing details you enter for an event.
Usage data
We log basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, to keep the Service secure and to understand how it's used.
2. How We Use Information
- To operate core features: publishing events, running CFPs, managing reviewer invites, and sending notifications about submission status or events you follow.
- To enforce plan limits associated with your subscription tier.
- To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and respond to support requests.
- To improve Happalo based on aggregate, non-identifying usage patterns.
3. Submission Visibility
CFP organisers can configure who sees a given submission and its reviews — for example, kept private to reviewers, shared with other reviewers, or visible to the submitter. We display review content only according to the visibility setting chosen by the organiser for that CFP.
4. Cookies & Sessions
Happalo uses a session cookie to keep you signed in and a CSRF cookie to protect form submissions. We don't use third-party advertising cookies.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only:
- Within the platform as intended by its features (e.g. your public organiser profile, published events, and submissions visible to assigned reviewers).
- With service providers who help us run the Service (e.g. hosting), under obligations to protect your data.
- When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Happalo and its users.
6. Data Retention
We keep account and event data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymise personal data within a reasonable period, except where we need to retain records for legal or billing reasons.
7. Your Rights
You can review and update most of your account information from your profile settings. You may request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account by emailing [email protected].
8. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your data — see our Security page for details.
9. Children's Privacy
Happalo is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above.
