Terms of Service
The rules for using Happalo.
Last updated: September 4, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or otherwise using Happalo (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you are using Happalo on behalf of an organisation, you are agreeing on its behalf and confirming you have the authority to do so.
2. What Happalo Does
Happalo lets organisers list events and run a Call for Papers (CFP) process: collecting talk submissions, inviting reviewers, scoring proposals, and communicating decisions to speakers. Happalo is not a ticketing or payment processor — where an event charges for tickets, registration and payment happen on the organiser's own registration page, and any ticket price shown on Happalo is informational only.
3. Accounts
You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account. Let us know immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access.
4. Organiser Responsibilities
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the events and CFPs you publish, including dates, locations, and submission deadlines.
- You are responsible for how you use reviewer roles and submission visibility settings, and for treating speaker submissions fairly and confidentially where you have indicated they are private.
- You must not publish events, CFP content, or submissions that are unlawful, fraudulent, or infringe someone else's rights.
5. Reviewers and Submitters
Reviewer access is granted by an event organiser through an invite link and is intended for the named invitee only. Submitters are responsible for the accuracy and originality of the proposals they submit through a CFP.
6. Subscription Plans & Billing
Happalo offers a free Community plan and paid plans (CFP Starter, Conference Pro) with higher limits on paid events, CFPs, and reviewers, as described on our Pricing page. By subscribing to a paid plan you authorise us to charge the applicable monthly or yearly fee until you downgrade or cancel. Fees are not refunded for partial billing periods. We may change plan pricing or limits with reasonable notice.
7. Content Ownership
You retain ownership of the event, CFP, and submission content you create. By publishing content on Happalo, you grant us a license to host, display, and distribute it as needed to operate the Service — for example, showing your event on public listing pages.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse the Service, including attempting to access accounts or data that are not yours, disrupting the platform's normal operation, or scraping content at scale without permission.
9. Termination
You may stop using Happalo and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that we reasonably believe pose a risk to the Service or other users.
10. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability
Happalo is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not responsible for the content of events, CFPs, or submissions created by users, or for disputes between organisers, reviewers, and submitters. To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of Happalo after a change means you accept the updated terms.
12. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent to [email protected].
